ONLINE REDEMPTION PROGRAMS

The Web Glow Machine and EyePrize online redemption programs were designed for two purposes: (1) to drive repeat sales from the machines, and (2) to build valuable customer databases for machine owners.
Each product vended from the Web Glow Machine and EyePrize contains a certificate with a special code, points and instructions for the purchaser to register for the online redemption program and redeem the points to win desirable premium prizes such as the Apple iPodTM, Sony PlaystationTM and Nintendo WiiTM. The premium prizes offered through the online redemption programs are routinely updated to ensure their consistency with the latest trends and most popular new products.
In order to register for the online redemption program, purchasers must establish an online user account by entering their name, address and telephone number, e-mail address and date of birth. This information and a record of each customer’s repeat purchases/point redemptions are compiled by the EDS. Each time a new customer registers for the online redemption program, their information is e-mailed to the machine owner.

*Promotions and Special Offers
Promotions and special offers are an excellent way to introduce your business to new customers and stimulate repeat patronage by existing customers.
Special offers/promotions also bolster traffic and sales during periods which are typically or seasonally slow such as the summer months, the holiday season, weekdays, daytimes or other non-peak times. They can also increase sales at other profit centers in your business such as snack bars, vending and game machines, rides, novelties, etc.
Customer Appreciation Promotions
Customer appreciation promotions send a message to your customers that you recognize, appreciate and value their business, prompting them to re-visit your business to take advantage of your special offer.
Customer appreciation promotions can take many forms, including discount coupons, two-for-one specials, complimentary products, services or gifts for special occasions and others. The keys to generating increased profit through a promotional offer are to (1) minimize your costs for the promotional item or service, and (2) place certain conditions on your customers’ ability to take advantage of the promotion. Here are some examples of how this works:
Birthday Promotions
Birthday promotions are one of the most popular promotions used by businesses of all kinds. Nearly everyone celebrates their birthday and people spend a considerable amount of money for birthday gifts, parties and related activities.
Here are some examples of low-cost birthday promotions and an explanation about how they can increase your earnings:
Pizza Restaurant Promotion
One cost-effective special birthday promotion would be to offer a customer a free medium-sized two-topping pizza and a pitcher of soft drinks on the condition that they celebrate their birthday your restaurant with six or more other people. The food cost for free the pizza and pitcher of soft drinks is nominal but, because the complimentary food and beverage will not feed seven or more people, the party will need to purchase more food and beverage. The additional food sales generated by the birthday promotion will cover the nominal cost of the free pizza and soft drinks, as well as increase your overall profit.
Bowling Center, Skating Rink or Family Entertainment Center Promotions
A low-cost birthday promotion offered by a bowling center, skating rink or family entertainment center could be services – complimentary bowling and shoe rental, skating and skate rental, batting cage use, arcade or game tokens, tickets for rides, etc. – which cost little to nothing. Placing conditions on these promotions similar to those discussed above for the pizza restaurant will generate increased sales.
*Fundraising and Charitable Activities
Fundraising and charitable activities are another ideal way to generate increased customer traffic and sales. Because people of all ages have an inherent desire to help others by “doing their part” to “make a difference,” they are inclined to participate in charitable events.
Sponsoring and/or participating in charitable events activities will enhance the public image of your business and increase its visibility in the community. Charitable events also spark media interest and often result in priceless “free publicity” for your business.
Popular fundraising activities include:
-
Offering to make a charitable donation of a certain percentage of the overall sales, sales of certain products or services at your business.
-
Offering to make a “matching donation” of all or percentage of the total donations received from or collected by your customers.
-
Sponsoring a drive or event benefitting local or national charitable organizations encouraging your customers and the general public to participate and/or contribute to the cause, including holiday toy drives for a children’s hospital or underprivileged youth, breast cancer fundraisers, coat drives for the homeless, etc.
You can increase and maximize participation in your fundraising and charitable activities by offering “competitive incentives” – awards, special prizes, plaques/pictures displayed at your business, etc. – for lasting public recognition of the those who volunteer, make substantial donations and/or secure the most donations.
MARKETING WITH EDS
The information contained in the EDS allows you to communicate with your customers either by e-mail or U.S. Mail, but it is highly recommended you do BOTH to enhance the effectiveness and reach of your marketing communications. Mailed promotional materials both reinforce e-mail communications and are more likely to reach the adult decision-makers who ultimately pay the bill for both their own and their family members’ birthday festivities.
Pre-printed postcards are very effective, low-cost marketing and advertising pieces. They are easy to design, inexpensive to print, cost less to mail [$.28 for a postcard versus $.44 for a letter]. Overall, postcards are less expensive than the combined cost of printing flyers on your computer, envelopes and postage to mail them.
To help you better visualize the marketing concepts and promotional materials discussed above, we have created the four different samples of the postcard mailers as ideas to announce special offers/promotions for your own business.
These sample postcards were printed by Vistaprint and created online using Vistaprint’s standard postcard templates.
Vistaprint offers a wide variety of standard postcard templates. They also offer an expansive library of other high-quality, customized printed products at very affordable prices, including business cards, brochures, calendars, pens, sticky notes, key chains, hats, car door magnets, coffee mugs – all of which can be customized for your business with personalized text, picture and logo upload for little or no additional charge.
The Vistaprint website is user-friendly and there is no charge to design postcards or other printed products.
The cost to print 100 postcards is extremely affordable. The four postcard examples we created were printed FREE with a Vistaprint customer promotional offer received by e-mail.
